Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do we need to have an in-person meeting?

Not at all! Most of our coordination can be done via email. If needed, a phone call can be scheduled to sort out details and answer questions, plan out the exact timings, musical choices, and logistics that we need to know for your ceremony.

Q. Will you attend our rehearsal?

We typically don’t need to attend the rehearsal. Our coordination before the service and years of experience allow us to be prepared for the ceremony without an extra service. If you do want us to attend the rehearsal, this can be arranged, pending availability, for our standard service rates.

Q. My sister/brother/best friend/mom/dad/etc wants to perform with you! Is this possible?

Yes! We can perform with friends or family of our clients, or with other professionals of your choosing (singers, pianists, organists, etc). In this case, we do require a 15-30 minuterehearsal before the ceremony for our standard service rates.

Q. Will you play my outdoor event?

We frequently perform outdoors for our events, and we do everything we can to accommodate the performance requirements for your event, including weather, wind, and temperature. However, our instruments are very sensitive to temperature and humidity. We must be out of direct sunlight, and temperatures must be between 60-95 degrees Fahrenheit (with a heat index no higher than 90).

Q. What will the group wear?

We will wear all black attire unless otherwise requested.

Q. Do you take special requests?

Yes! We will write a custom arrangement of a song or piece not on our repertoire list for an arrangement fee. If the arrangement or piece already exists for your chosen ensemble, we only require reimbursement for the cost of the music. If you need a quote for your favorite song, reach out to us on our contact page.

Q. How do I reserve my date?

Once we receive your signed contract and a 50% deposit, your date is reserved!

Q. How far in advance do you book?

We book up to 18 months in advance.

Q. Which ensemble should I book?

Deciding which ensemble will be best for your event can be a hard decision! We understand the balance of planning your musical needs around your venue space, song choices, and budget.

String Duo (2 Players)

A string duo—typically violin and cello or two violins—offers a light, intimate, and elegant sound. With only two musical lines, the texture is clean and transparent, making it well-suited for smaller spaces or events that require a subtle musical presence.

  • Musical texture: Primarily melody and bass line, with limited harmonic complexity.

  • Repertoire: A mix of classical selections and arranged popular pieces, though somewhat more limited than ensembles with more players.

  • Ideal for: Intimate ceremonies, cocktail hours with limited space, or events where music should enhance the atmosphere without dominating it.

String Trio (3 Players)

A typical trio—violin, viola, and cello or 2 violins and cello—provides a richer and more balanced sound than a duo while still maintaining an understated elegance. With three independent voices, the ensemble can achieve fuller harmonies and more rhythmic depth.

  • Musical texture: Clear harmonies, fuller chords, and increased musical interplay.

  • Repertoire: Broader than a duo, with strong coverage of classical works and flexible arrangements for contemporary music.

  • Ideal for: Medium-sized ceremonies, receptions, or events needing a balance between refinement and warmth.

String Quartet (4 Players)

The string quartet—two violins, viola, and cello—is widely regarded as the gold standard of chamber ensembles. With four independent lines, it offers the richest texture, the widest range of dynamics, and the most versatile repertoire.

  • Musical texture: Complete harmonies, intricate counterpoint, and dynamic contrast comparable to a small orchestra.

  • Repertoire: The largest and most historically significant body of works, from classical masterworks to highly detailed contemporary arrangements.

  • Ideal for: Larger ceremonies, formal events, corporate functions, and situations where music serves as a central, expressive feature.
